In a way it’s lucky for Doug he has those staunch defenders of the show, cos if it had been anything else they would be having meltdowns all over social media and demanding it be cancelled. None of them will ever engage with us over the Lolita stuff and I brought it up a LOT on the old forum hahaha. Maybe this is why Paddy hated me so much actually, that never occurred to me before when he came out of nowhere calling me “trash” hahahaha doofus.
But yeah, none of them will ever discuss it. They don’t even need to read the book, cos I know it’s a hard read (not even being patronising there I swear hahaha), but just acknowledge that was a far more problematic move than any of the trans stuff they briefly got pissy over. Noncing is like THE worst thing someone can do, so why not act like it matters more than if something maybe sorta hurt someone’s feelings?
Also, as someone who is part of the deaf community, I think I probably should’ve been offended by that stuff about the woman not really being deaf or whatever, but I’m not made of sand so it doesn’t bother me beyond being a rubbish plot point.
Oh I remember when the sweaty experts on the other forum we love so much had to explain to an actual trans person, why the trans joke was offensive.
I can't really imagine anyone getting actually offended by the trans joke or by the deaf cat girl in TPL apart from these jokes being just rubbish.

I don’t think anyone here is a regular listener, but I feel someone did let us know that they’d been banging on about it.
